Warriors and Loneliness-Inevitable ? or WOLVES, SHEEP, SHEEPDOGS, &...

(if short on time, PLEASE jump right to the comments to these posts---far more interesting frankly--if only because initial posts can't cover the endless nuances of such things; also, I lifted the WSSSN title from a comment to first post)

Seems to me that warriors must do battle with Loneliness from time to time. My guess is the worst of Loneliness hits people early in their lives--not long after realization that other people seem lighter, happier, more carefree, less burdened, and the re... Read More

Male warriors- Grandmothers, Mothers, Women, Little Girls
Posted On 12/10/2007 23:59:13 by evangelium

(This is a preface to a forthcoming post devoted to the ways warriors are often most vulnerable around and wounded by women. This lays the groundwork for taking a closer look at how vulnerable warriors can be, how male warriors are to women.....partly because of temperament, rearing, blind spots, and some warrior codes. From the start, I must say I'm far more interested in the answers readers offer to this one. I was taken aback by the number and kinds of responses generated by the 'introductory' post. I ought confess that a woman friend threatened to pester me till I did, so.........

Some thoughts about warriors not... Read More

INTRODUCTION: MEN, BLIND SPOTS, AND BRUISES

There is relatively little written about the seemingly unique vulnerabilities, blind spots, and bruises experienced by male warriors. Nothing surprising about this however unfortunate it is. Men of this type tend to be misunderstood and misunderstand themselves. So what ? How do matters of sensitivity and understanding matter in the lives of warriors ? Dunno. Just some observations.

Warriors strike me as some of the more compassiona... Read More

Things they didnt Teach in Church or Sunday School

THE HAZARDS OF TRADITIONAL RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

The "turn the other cheek" idea never sat well with me. Well before I commenced 12 years of education in Catholic schools, played altar boy at the daily 6:30 am morning Mass, served at 2 or 3 Masses some Sundays and always on Wedding and Funeral Masses, and all the rest, I began to identify Church doctrine and accepted teachings that didn't make sense. Over time, the 'sorry, doesn't make sense' list was longer than the 'okay, I can live wi... Read More
