From the start, I must say I'm far more interested in the answers readers offer to this one. I was taken aback by the number and kinds of responses generated by the 'introductory' post. People seemed genuinely interested in batting around the 7 ideas thrown out for discussion; nothing magic re the number 7. I've needed to get these reflections out of my system for a while. The "turn the other cheek" idea never sat well with me. Well before I commenced 12 years of education in Catholic schools, played altar boy at the daily 6:30 am morning Mass, served at 2 or 3 Masses some Sundays and always on Wedding and Funeral Masses, and all the rest, I began to identify Church doctrine and accepted teachings that didn't make sense. (Below is a post made to local online newspaper....the issues seem relevant to most everyone...)

Revelations of new cases of sexually misbehaving priests, cover-ups, and truly bizarre ripple effects continue to emerge. A magnificent example of the ineptitude of Church leaders to 'manage' this crisis hit the news a few weeks ago. Some may recall that groups of aging nuns are being evicted from their residences of 30-40 years, so the Church can sell the property to settle lawsuits !
