Blessed Are The Angry
Posted On 12/13/2007 14:20:32 by evangelium

It's worth reviewing the 'raw data' on certain subjects from time to time to remind us of our responsibilities to each other. The information provided by Liam Jackson might also explain why some of us find ourselves prone to be so grumpy; more often than not, we haven't a clue what set off the most recent grumpy outburst. I prefer to know why I am such a grump.....know the truth and it will set you free......to get more grumpy (half joking). R. D. Laing, the famous and controversial Scottish... Read More

Warriors, Women, and Wounds-Part I
Posted On 12/12/2007 21:10:48 by evangelium

(This is Part I of II on this topic. It seems necessary to lay out some background information to make it easier to understand how/why ways male warriors seem so vulnerable in dealings with women. I trust you won't dismiss Part I as a bunch of psychobabble. It matches my experience as a kid, and my son tells me it's basically the same game for his generation. Most of this stuff is covered in a book by a Harvard professor, Carol Gilligan, called "In A Different Voice"--and there is gen... Read More

MORNING RAMBLINGS OF A GRUMPY BEAR
Posted On 12/11/2007 22:11:08 by evangelium
A favorite part of my day is between 4-6 am. It's dark, still, quiet, peaceful--a good thing for a grumpy bear. Sometimes, my dog Shadow will take me for a walk. I'm resolving to let her do this far more often. This time of day is good medicine for one prone to feel bad about denying his dog the pure joy and adventure of walks with 'Daddy'. Shadow is about 6-7 years old but doesn't realize her puppy days are past. Too smart for her own good, amazingly fast, close to fearless, she digs life. Well... Read More

Warriors and Loneliness-Inevitable ? or WOLVES, SHEEP, SHEEPDOGS, &...

(if short on time, PLEASE jump right to the comments to these posts---far more interesting frankly--if only because initial posts can't cover the endless nuances of such things; also, I lifted the WSSSN title from a comment to first post)

Seems to me that warriors must do battle with Loneliness from time to time. My guess is the worst of Loneliness hits people early in their lives--not long after realization that other people seem lighter, happier, more carefree, less burdened, and the re... Read More

Male warriors- Grandmothers, Mothers, Women, Little Girls
Posted On 12/10/2007 20:59:13 by evangelium

(This is a preface to a forthcoming post devoted to the ways warriors are often most vulnerable around and wounded by women. This lays the groundwork for taking a closer look at how vulnerable warriors can be, how male warriors are to women.....partly because of temperament, rearing, blind spots, and some warrior codes. The view of woman presented below is hardly mainstream. I can't assume it's common knowledge that such a perspective exists. Probably most readers take all of this as a given.... Read More
