A favorite part of my day is between 4-6 am. It's dark, still, quiet, peaceful--a good thing for a grumpy bear. Sometimes, my dog Shadow will take me for a walk. I'm resolving to let her do this far more often. This time of day is good medicine for one prone to feel bad about denying his dog the pure joy and adventure of walks with 'Daddy'. Shadow is about 6-7 years old but doesn't realize her puppy days are past. Too smart for her own good, amazingly fast, close to fearless, she digs life. Well... Read More
(if short on time, PLEASE jump right to the comments to these posts---far more interesting frankly--if only because initial posts can't cover the endless nuances of such things; also, I lifted the WSSSN title from a comment to first post) Seems to me that warriors must do battle with Loneliness from time to time. My guess is the worst of Loneliness hits people early in their lives--not long after realization that other people seem lighter, happier, more carefree, less burdened, and the re... Read More

People seemed genuinely interested in batting around the 7 ideas thrown out for discussion; nothing magic re the number 7. I've needed to get these reflections out of my system for a while. I ought confess that a woman friend threatened to pester me till I did, so......... Some thoughts about warriors not... Read More
INTRODUCTION: MEN, BLIND SPOTS, AND BRUISES There is relatively little written about the seemingly unique vulnerabilities, blind spots, and bruises experienced by male warriors. Nothing surprising about this however unfortunate it is. Men of this type tend to be misunderstood and misunderstand themselves. So what ? How do matters of sensitivity and understanding matter in the lives of warriors ? Dunno. Just some observations. Warriors strike me as some of the more compassiona... Read More
