"The environmental crisis is an outward manifestation of a crisis of mind and spirit. There could be no greater misconception of its meaning than to believe it to be concerned only with endangered wildlife, human-made ugliness, and pollution. These are part of it, but more importantly, the crisis is concerned with the kind of creatures we are and what we must become in order to survive." Lynton K. Caldwell

Think one job that requires at least a 4-year degree, extra credits, extra certification, unpaid internship, and on-going re-certification for the starting salary of less than $38,000 (that's $3,800/month for a 10-month contract or $3,160/month for a year-round contract, less than $158/day and less than $20/hour -- average starter salary for the job that requires college degree is $46,000). A job that has to take care of not only their immediate clients but often the clients' family as well. A job that comes with unpaid overtime, that doesn't pay you back for any of the project-related expenses, and that asks for consistently better performances without added benefits. The worst of all, it's not your clients who decide if you can keep the job, and you could be laid off any time within a few months notice.

This job is called "public school k-12 teacher". Nobody but only unselfish saints could work so hard to obtain such an underappreciated and underpaid profession.

Therefore, public school k-12 teachers are my heros. I am gratefull to all the educators. If children are trees, schools are the ground in which they grow, and the teachers are the rain that helps them grow.

Jero-the American born Enka singer in Japan. I instantaneously became a big fan of this polite young man. His dedication to Enka and Japanese language is admirable. He is a great raw model for my son and many children as he is polite, respectful, confident, dedicated, and hardworking. And the most of all, he has broken the conventional image of Enka, by showing not only that a great Enka singer doesn't have to be a Japanese born wearing a traditional kimono, but also that it can be appreciated by younger generation. It is a lesson for many of us who tend to be misguided by our preconceptions.

Originally, my spouse and I wanted to learn a gentle and spiritual way of martial arts. We tried Aikido and found out that it was not gentle at all but we loved the philosophy. Later we moved on to Taiji Quan, Xing-Yi Quan, Bagua Zhang. Originally we liked their seemingly soft techniques and the benefits to our health. Currently we enjoy training our in-depth fundamentals along with applications.

I am not sure if it is an accomplishment, but being a mother is my most rewarding experience.

Being a good mother for my son is my most challenging experience.

honesty, sincerity, humbleness, diversity, positive attitudes, caring hearts, challenges, and life.

laziness, limitation, impoliteness, deceits, negative attitudes, selfishness, and losing my temper (it is an absolute displeasure!)

Right now I am into creating Japanese language learning tools.

I have just recently been reminded of that my saddest time is extremely irrelevant to those who suffer much greater sadness. Therefore, I conclude that I have no saddest time to proclaim to the world. All the suffering I thought I had as a child and as a young adult is just a silly joke compared to the suffering of the people in war zones, in the regions of tyranny, and in extreme poverty.

My happiest time is now being with my beloved husband and son.

I like most animals, but my favorite are cats, though our first and 2nd 4-legged house pets were dogs. I raised several Java sparrows and budgerigars when I was a kid. They were all very funny little birds with unique characters. However, the most memorable bird I raised was a rooster. I got him right after he hatched. He thought I was his mother and used to follow me everywhen in the house. I had to be very careful not to step on him. Since he was raised inddor, he did not like to be soild and used to jump up on my shoulder when I tried to put him outside. Needless to say, cleaning the house floor was my job... One day, when he was almost a full grown rooster, he tried to kiss me and tore my lower lip by accident. My mother became very weary of him and gave him away while I was at a school. I didn't talk to my mother for a long time.
i know that sucks i had a little puppy the jerk my mother was seeing when i was little kid let him go and i never saw him again. that is the night i ran to my grandparents.

Hi,
Sounds like you had a wonderful trip! How exciting for your son to get to go to a Japanese school! Summer here is passing by quickly. I've been working on that butterfly garden and on my other landscaping projects. Yesterday I planted some hyssop or anise. Smells so good. I'll take some pictures soon. Last week when I worked in the garden, little purple butterflies kept me company. :) Hope some more show up soon. And that the squirrels go away.

The little naihanchi boy is no longer little and now 9. He was able to experience Japanese elementary school for 2 full days uring our visit to Japan. He enjoyed Japanese hospitality, and Japanese public school system very much, especially the delicious lunch cooked right at the school's kitchen. He also turned into a ninja at the Edo wonderland. Although he nolonger attends a Karate dojo due to the recent closure, he keeps himself busy with baseball and soccer. He will be attending a Tai Chi workshop this weekend.

Thank you for asking.

How are things with you?

Has anyone ever told you about the virtues of Shorin-Ryu?
