The deity of the Meiji Shrine is the 122nd Emperor of Japan, the Emperor Meiji who
acceded to the throne in 1867 after the collapse of the Tokugawa regime.
The Meiji Shrine is the biggest shrine in Japan with the biggest gateway at the entrance.
