Excellence in life!

After reading a blog entry by RobinBailey, about an MA Day in his neck of the woods, I thought I would post something I have been thinking about for a long time.

As intructors, teachers, parents we expect the most from our kids and students.  Has anyone other than myself though about creating a school  offering the required eductational benefits needed for one to graduate highschool.  At the same time focus all of the history courses (with the exception of thos erequired by said state) with history of the arts.  Kids would also get daily training in martial arts.

The school after hours would cater to adults interested in the arts as well.

I guess my idea is a much like what Shaolin Temple did in NY city.

I'll add to that, since 1993 I (we, my husband did a bit too :) ) fostered drug and alcohol teens, most in some pretty serious legal trouble and with violence issues. About 60% of them (as well as our own children) entered college on academic scholarships based on SAT scores and admissions exams. Apparently it is working. The rest are out there functioning in society at a level much higher than their beginnings suggest they could.

I do something akin to that. We homeschool (and are open to have other parents bring their children here when needed/desired) and I tailor what they study to what I feel is most important to know. I do not use MA as an exclusive historic base but keep re-visiting history looking at the influence of science, religions, etc. We also will track history and a subject such as MA and watch how the knowledge, rulership etc. of the day determined the outcome or possibility of a particular idea to grow or die.

Yeah....it would be something like the School of math and science we see in almost everystate...just geared towards martial arts.  Of course thier is much more to the thought than just the school itself.  I was thinking a k-12 type of school.  Like schools of math and science yet started at a younger age.  Maybe offer languages of the Schools art like Japanese, chinese and korean...who knows.

THAT IS A BRILLIANT IDEA...I DO KNOW OF HIGH SCHOOLS WHO DO THAT , NOT NECESSARILY JUST THE MARTIAL ARTS BUT ALL KINDS OF ARTS...WE JUST NEED MORE SCHOOLS LIKE THEM!
