Jiibundo "the way of one's self"
Posted On 05/10/2007 06:12:00 by heavenswrath

Hello, this is an expansive and expressive document on the teachings
and  etiquette in relation to Jiibundo. I intend on opening up the
understaning and philosophies included in my art. So as to not create
confusion as to what I'm about and what you too can learn about
yourself.

     Jiibundo is
something that came to me over time. I refrained for awhile from naming
it but eventually the style named it's self. By no means is this a
fatherless style or a Frankenstein style. For it was birthed out of the
current styles, traditions, and regiment's of today. I don't believe my
style to be another branch of the tree of Martial Arts but a brand new
tree all together that accentuate's the roots of the current tree we
know as Martial Arts. In the words of Bruce Lee, "We should be
formless, ever flowing like water," To me adding a style and sticking
with it conforms you like water in a cup. And as you master your style
you go from a stirophone cup, to a glass cup, to a water bottle, to a
glass pitcher of Water. But the only draw back is that you are still
inhibited from completely freely flowing and breaking out on your own.
Unlocking your own self discovery. The history of fighting has revealed
that the greatest things came from situations. Like one of the most
classic kung fu weapons the Nunchucks were farming equipment until a
situation arised and someone needed a weapon. Now instead of taking the
lead and using situations to re-invent ourselves as fighters we ended
up  following those of greatness instead of learning how, and why
they were great. I believe martial arts has lost its creativity. And
I'm here to bring it back. Because I think differently and try to
understand what the greats did I have learned a great deal of things.
My master encourages my actions and supports me. In Jiibundo I will
instruct you on basic self defense techniques. Then on advanced
offensive maneuvers. As you get further on conditioning your body for
martial arts. I will continue to increase mental sharpness and attempt
to baptise you in the whole world of martial arts. So that you can live
and breath it. I will also begin mental exercises that will make you
mentally alert and aware of your surroundings. Also the whole time will
be spent encouraging you as a person to strike out on your own. There's
really no right or wrong in your training. Just the practical and
unpractical. I do realize in the contradiction of saying that styles
conform you and then creating my own style but thats just it. Jiibundo
should be an experience a lifestyle change. It should be like seeing a
Therapist or guidence consellor. An uplifting step in the right
direction. See the teachings here aren't only for fighting but can
improve you in the corprate world as well as in your own home. These
strategies of picking yourself and being your own man or woman are just
the same no matter what the scenery. In Jiibundo we train for
situations. Practical for everyday life and lifestyles of all kind. If
your lifesyle brings you into a certain situation then we already have
a course for it. I do have a area for weapons in the style. Mainly we
use Swords, Nunchucks, Bo Staff and Kamas. The garb for the style
ranges from confortable sporty outfits to on certain days traditional
formal wear. A combination between a classical Chineese kung fu out fit
with a Gi. On the spiritual note. There is a large side dealing with ki
and how to charge your attacks and focus the mind to the point of where
phycical combat isn't even necccasary. If anyone has further questions
then post what's on your mind. Have a nice day!

Nice!  As a great master once said, "Use the force Luke!"  ^_^  But before you laugh, think about what he was saying.  It is from within one's self that we discover our true talents and gifts.  Left unused or unchecked they are worthless, but if developed and properly used they have unlimited potential and power.  Or you could just use what you have been taught and not develop further.  Nice...Jiibundo

just curious why you use outdated weapons in a 'modern' system?  If you create a style in 2007 why not have modern weapons to face practical situations? the classical chinese kung fu outfit was also their everyday attire, so why not make your uniform whatever you happen to be wearing that day?

Styrofoam, papercup, glass ,pitcher,  are you saying we should be a puddle?  Matial arts is a vehicle. You vehicle is home made.  How do you test your style? Why do you use Japansese names for all the weapons you listed except the "sword".  Did you develop your knowledge of ki by yourself or did you have guidance yourself?  where did the name " Jiibundo" come from and what does it mean?  How did it name itself?

The skills you list are available from many real martial arts.  How is yours different?
