another road block for the club
Posted On 03/29/2007 04:50:15 by machomongo1

So I finally get a call back from the community center about the club I'm trying to start and they decided not to let me use the space. They feel that thirty-five a month is too expensive and I told them I was willing to come down and suggessted twenty bucks a month. They felt that twenty bucks a month was fine but that the students should have to pay for the equipment to this i could only respond with "hunh? Where did the student paying for the equipment come from? I am getting the equipment on my own and will bring it to be used." Of course once again they mention about feeling it is wrong for the students to pay for the equipment. I than told them again with more emphasise that I was going to be the only one getting the equipment which everyone would be allowed to use. Well this entire back and forth with me trying to understand the centers thinking went on for about three hours on the phone with me finally just telling them "look! if you don't want an adult martial arts class just tell me that. This whole equipment thing is getting ridiculous.." They tell me well we want the club but the equipment thing. And to this I told them "you know what this whole discussion and work for the club out there is done. You are going out of your way to tell me you don't want the club but trying not to hurt my feelings and treating me like a fool by doing this whole equipment thing. I'll find somewhere else to use. Sorry for wasting your time and mine" and then pretty much slammed the phone down.

I am now back looking for somewhere around the King of Prussia area here in PA to use for the club. A boyscout lodge, Church basement, school gym...anything. If anyone knows of any place that is willing to allow a small group to get together and practice the martial arts about two to three times a week during the evening please let me know. I would greately appreciate it.

WHEN BELONGING TO A CHURCH, IT IS EASIER TO GET THE TRUSTEES TO ALLOW USE OF A ROOM FOR DOJO.  I DID THIS.

A friend ran a dojo from a local school and found their insurance far less expensive than applying individually.  They should also have space to store your equipment.

Good luck
