Blog Entry: This is a revised version of my Self-Help For Pain And Stress bog that I posted on 5/17/2007. I created the following techniques basing my Qigong knowledge and healing experience. When there is a pain suddenly happens in any part of the body. Some people may call it stagnation of energy that may result from injury, bad diet, unhealthy life-style, other people's toxic influence, etc. Bad diet - food rich in potein such as lobster, red meat, soy beans, and beverage such as beer, can cause too much calcium deposit to the body's joints or affect the kidneys' normal functioning. Uric acids will form especially when drinking large amount of beer on daily basis. Uric acids in the body can crystalize and clog up the small blood vessels causing Gout. The excessive amount of calcium deposit can make the joints stiff, thus affect the circulation of the blood and normal Qi-energy flow. Unhealthy life-style/other people's toxic infuence - those who party or hang out in public all the time, and those who go to the movies too often, and the promiscuous sexually active people, etc. tend to trap too much Yang energy in their liver from other people. The excessive Yang energy causes problem to the tendons all over the body thus all the joints are not fully-supported by the ligaments causing joint ache, arthritis, and stagnation of energy due to the damage. Stagnation of energy can result in pain according to Chinese Medicine. The acupuncturist or a Qigong master would attempt to restore the flow of energy in order to cut down pain. Pain and stagnation of energy may result from injury that causes bulging and spasm and tensions. But, most unknown pains are caused by excessive energy or sick wind, namely excessive Yang energy and dirty elements that are spreaded or permeated from other people, or absorbed by oneself to the liver. Lack of sleep tends to build up dirty elements in the body and causes tensions. Execssive Yang energy is the major cause of all sickness that can range from dizziness, dazzling/blurring vision, fainting, headache, acid-reflux, heart-burn, high-blood pressure, heart problem, weakening of all tendons(mildly inflamed) of the body and the joints are not fully supported by the tendons and ligaments, thus causing joint aches and arthritis. Exessive energy to the liver can further affect the kidneys causing hair loss, white hair, insomnia, lack of focus, ringing in the ears and hearing loss, memory loss, osteoporosis, etc. When men and women reach the age of 40, the amount of natural essential Yin energy that are stored in the five major organs: the liver, heart, spleen, lungs, and kidneys will be automatcally decreased by half. These men and women tend to become over-Yang naturally and may need to learn how to  replenish their essential Yin through exercise such as Taiji and Qigong, and to nourish themselves through Yin nourishing diet. Excessive Yang energy or fire causes tensions to anywhere of the body, but mainly it builds up on the neck. The immediate pain that results from other people's excessive Yang energy and dirty elements usually are trapped to the left side toward the center of the neck at the Da-Dui(Big Vetebrate) vital point. Da-Dui vital point is the crossings of three Yang hand meridians, three Yang foot meridians, and the Governing Channel at the center line of the back. The tension may cause a stroke to happen to the boarder-line seniors. The tension can extend to the whole neck. The neck tension can extend to the middle-back, and the middle-back tension can extend to the lower back. The lower back tension can affects both hips, and both hips can affect both knees, both knees can affect both ankles. When the tensions remain, the excessive Yang energy/body heat and dirty elements remain trapped inthe body, and affect the body's normal functioning beside causing just pain. The tensions cause the muscles to squeeze the nerves, thus causing pain. Deep-tissue neuro-muscular massage may help relieve the tension to ease the pain. The tensions in fact restrict/block the signals that are sent by problemed area of the body and their transmitting to the brain, and the brain do not recognize that there is a problem in the body. The brain is considered by most people as the hospital and pharmccy of the body. To restore health and get rid of pain, getting rid of any tension to restore the normal energy flow is the priority! The following exercise illustrates how to utilize the brain to fix the problem: Step out of the house, and take a deep breath through the nose for the cool and fresh air with the togue attached to the surface underneath the upper teeth, keep the mouth close and not to swallow the saliva until finish. Arch the neck back and wiggle slowly and gently to the left,  and stretch further to the left a few times. Bring the head to center while maintaining arching, change a fresh breath then wiggle to the right and stretch further a few times to the right. Bring the head back to center, change another breath and arch further, wiggle and stretch again, and arch further and wiggle to get rid of any neck tension. Change breath and arch further and repeat this routine a few times. There may be some clicking sound, and that is a good sign that indicates that the tension is gone!  Swallow the saliva after finish. That's the quickest way to get rid of pain. The stagnation of energy causes tensions to the neck and the tension squeezes the nerves so the signals of the body's problems don't reach the brain. Once the tension is gone, the brain will receive the signals and will immediately release doses of endorphin to the blood stream. The pain will be gone in a split of a second. Try this method for pain management! It will reduce stress and bring in lots of relaxation and comfort also.
